This commission came to us in the most interesting way. Every time we drove by the 'Maui Lani' Kaiser clinic while it still a dirt lot, and then under construction Phil would say, "I just have to figure out how I can do something in that building!" Sure enough they called and the architect offered us this project. We had to wait till after 5 P.M. to start and worked till mid-night on most nights, seven days a week.

In the end the entire family was involved to some extent. Two of our son's helped with painting over 408 leaves. The deadline was moved up with an opening planned and all was almost perfect. The last tree days we left Phil alone to put the finishing touches on the mural. I always tell every one upon entering the Kaiser Maui Lani Clinic to "look up" the Maile will embraces you and begin the wellness....Mahalo & Aloha
