"Alahea"
translates to mean "The intense noon day sun." Look into these
leaves and the heat will permeate from the canvas to you. The challenge
I faced was to have these leaves not only 'shine' at noonday, but radiate
warmth to the viewer. I was pleased that the plant "showed"
us all her glory in all these colors.
In Hawaiian we say "Kalikoa" a
Pidgin English phrase that translates to; many colors, many moods!!
In this Ti, they are bright and shinning!
The lava stones at the base are a 'Heiau'
a sacred place that was used for ceremonies, as well as burials.
