This name heralds from Akaka Falls, on the big island. The stones at the base are covered with red seaweed (limu) from the constant pounding of the falls. As I painted this piece I saw that brilliant reds seemed to "erupt" on my canvas

.The intensity of light on the leaves speaks to the time of day, noon time. The sun was directly overhead when I chose to paint these red ti's.. Aloha Nui Loa
